Walking by the streets and corridors at uta is a great cultural shock. The first thing to be noticed is the use of laptops. Due to their low purchasing cost (sometimes, you get a new one for 300 € ), i can say that most of the students have one. It doesn´t mean it is news (even in Brazil, in the big centers, it is growing), but it is something that calls the attention. Another big hit is coffee. That Finland is the country that most consumes coffee per person we already knew beforehand. But seeing everyone around walking with their to-go cups all the time, that is sth interesting. The clothing styles are very peculiar too. As a friend said, the impression is that everyone wants to be different somehow. Some guys color the hair, girls leave the straightness aside for a rastafari look with dreadlocks...lots of black outfits. Some are very radical: these days, a girl had black and red dreads and was wearing a jacket like the one Michael Jackson wore in Thriller... It is being great to be here.
